Lexus Announces Voluntary Safety Recall for 2006-2012 IS Models

Lexus USA has announced a voluntary safety recall for the 2006-2012 IS — from the press release:

…recall involves the front wipers on certain Lexus IS vehicles where the wiper arm nut might not be sufficiently tight.  If movement of the wipers is restricted by an external load, such as a buildup of heavy snow on the windshield, one or both of the wipers could become inoperative.

This recall is for approximately 270,000 IS vehicles — affected owners will be notified by mail in the near future, and the recall will be performed at Lexus dealerships at no charge.

If someone can post the proper torque anybody could do it on its own.

I think this is just a smart marketing move. I bet they gonna ask every owner about the new IS :)

They probably just install a lock washer and tighten it to a torque spec.
