Video Interview with Lexus GS Chief Engineer Yoshihiko Kanamori

This video interview with Lexus GS Chief Engineer Yoshihiko Kanamori proves the fact that there’s always something new to learn about the next-generation GS:

Worth noting that Kanamori-san calls the GS the “core model in the Lexus sedan line-up”. By being the midsize sedan, this may be true in the purest sense, but then the GS has always shared its position with the ES — a model that has dominated Lexus sedan sales in North America for the past fifteen years.

It’s because of this that I find Kanamori-san’s statement so important — while I have my doubts that the ES will ever lose its position as the top selling sedan in the line-up, it’s clear that the GS has become the first (and best) example of a reinvented Lexus brand.

I don't know the ES that much, since in Europe there is no ES. But if Lexus offered in US a GS250 and a GS250h or 300h (Camry hybrid powertrain) If that becomes true, it could or not steal some market from the ES?
