Automobile Magazine Comparison: Lexus LX 570 vs. Infiniti QX56

Automobile Magazine recently compared the Lexus LX 570 against the Infiniti QX56 and found the QX56 to be the superior Japanese SUV based on handling, price & a drag race (?!?) — my own priorities when buying a full-size SUV would be much different (comfort, interior quality, exterior design).

(This entire comparison must have been conducted while wearing blindfolds — the QX56 is a freakishly ugly machine.)

Infiniti... they got the curves, but where's the beauty?! The QX has the wood, leather, and chrome, but why doesn't it feel any better than the LX?! I welcome the competition though. Visually, the LX needs more, particularly in the interior; I hope the future facelift will incorporate all the conveniences already available on other Lexus models!

Uh...on the review page of the QX..isn't that a LX interior(dash) ? Anyway I don't care if it handles better or faster, the thing is hideous. Interior wise it's nice and a tough pick between the two but I don't care how nice the inside is even if it was made from Versace. The exterior of the QX is horrible!. I'll take the LX without a doubt, no bias.

My comparison when comparing 4WD's is how they they perform as a 4WD (Off-Road / Bush Basher). Toyota undoubtedly engineers the best 4WD's in the world however on-road manners are often compromised (to me .. fair-enough). However ... what i have experianced over the years is that many automotive journalist will compare Toyota or Lexus 4WD vehicles against competitors with predominately on-road evaluations and not evaluate 'genuine' off-road abilities. If it is a 4WD and intended (designed and engineered) to be a capable, dependable and durable off-roader - then comprehensively test it as a 4WD ... PERIOD !!

    Agreed, this drag race makes no sense to me at all -- should have at least made off-roading part of the comparison.

I have always wanted a chance to display my hatred for how hideous the QX is!!! Is there really an uglier vehicle on the road? i always though the generation before this one was bad but they blew me away with this generation. FUGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to the author, the QX is faster to 60 mph by 1.7 seconds?!? That does not compute. Me thinks an error has been made. Me thinks multiple errors have been made throughout the article. Too many list.

    According to Edmunds</strong, the QX56 has a <a href="0-60 time of 7.3s, and the LX has a 0-60 time of 7.4s -- so I don't know what Automobile Mag was doing on the track.

I don't know. To me, you're comparing two completely different SUVs. The QX is more Mercedes GL than LX. The LX, in turn, is more Range Rover than it is QX. That being said, I'd take a Land Cruiser over either of these SUVs. Sure, it may not be a super-luxo SUV, but you get a lot more of your money's worth compared to the LX (which is basically a Land Cruiser with frills, i.e. Lincoln Navigator-Ford Explorer?), and at the same time isn't as ugly as the Infiniti on the outside.

    While I'd ultimately go for an LX if given the choice, the Land Cruiser is an iconic vehicle and would be tough to pass up.

Hands down i would go with the LX, the QX looks great too but i'm not into that front beluga whale look. Anyone else see the resemblance?

    I don't know if I dislike the front-end or the fake front fender port holes more -- now that's a tough comparison. ;-)

I like the QX looks, but the face is the weak point, and it looks bad from some angles Pretty sure the QX will beat the LX in 3rd row seating room/comfort I've NEVER seen the LX move to 60 in more than 7.5 seconds, usually in the mid-6s, so they dropped the ball there The QX is selling well because of it's price, starting in the low-$60s BD

    Bring the price into the equation and I can see why the QX is selling, but I can't imagine driving such an ugly vehicle -- it's seriously in Aztek territory.

I dont get why they always test it in this green color. You MUST have it in black...looks so good in black. I have one of these and I am abolutely in love with it. I would say that it is much better than the LX. Also the car looks much better in person than it does in the pictures...
