Lexus LFA Races in VLN Nürburgring Season Opener

A Gazoo Racing Lexus LFA took part in this weekend’s 4-hour VLN 1 race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with disappointing results.

After finishing the 20th overall in qualifying (the fastest non-German car in the race), a run-in with a Porsche 911 took the team of Iida Akira, Kinoshita Takayuki & Ishiura Hiroaki out of main event, resulting in 125th place overall.

The good news is that Lexus is continuing their involvement at the Nürburgring circuit, and this is likely a pre-cursor to another appearance at the 24h Nürburgring race in May.

(For anyone interested, here’s a larger version of the above photo — the detail is amazing.)

I guess it takes more than just a faster car. At least Gazoo team is just getting their feet wet. I'm sure they will do better next time.

@Krew or anybody. It's 5 days until the start of the Superstars Series and we've yet to see the Lexus IS-F. All I've found is this http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=5781. Anybody have anymore info?

From the results, it doesn't look like the IS-F was involved in the first race, though I have heard that it will be joining sometime this season. I'll definitely keep my eye out for any news.

what's amazing is that there was only one LFA. I counted at least a dozen BMW M3s and more Porches. Its incredible the LFA was able to qualify as well as it did.
