Driving the 2011 Lexus LS 600hL

The 2011 Lexus LS 600hL

This past weekend, I made the trip to Toronto and picked up a 2011 Lexus LS 600hL from Lexus Canada for a two week road test.

The LSh has a Obsidian exterior & Parchment interior, and is fully loaded with every conceivable feature, right down to the massaging rear ottoman and a whole host of driver-assist technologies (Lane Keep Assist, Driver Monitoring, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Hold button). In some ways, it’s more robot than car.

If there’s one vehicle in the Lexus lineup that gets me tongue-tied, it’s the LS. The feeling I get behind the wheel is difficult to put into words, but it’s the reason I bought a Lexus in the first place. Getting a chance to drive this (much too big) LS 600hL is a dream come true.

Now, I’m going to try something new with my coverage of the LSh — rather than write daily or weekly posts, I’ve created a page that I will be updating instead. There’s a link to the page in the sidebar (using the same picture as above), and here’s a direct link — should be an interesting couple of weeks!

    Congrats

I have had the chance to drive and be chauffeured around in the 600hl a few times

The way it just keeps accelerating is unreal. The ecvt is thrilling.

And the Mark Levinson sound system has spoiled me. Now that I have exprienced it, my Bose just doesn’t cut it anymore.

@Jesus built my Lexus: Many claim that the B&O systems that we now see in not only Audi but also Aston Martin and Mercedes vehicles are NOWHERE on par with Lexus’ Mark Levinson. Unfortunately… I think my 2003 LX 470’s speakers just broke… :`-(
