Lexus & Five Axis Team Up for Project CT Show Car

Just in time for the Chicago Auto Show, Lexus has once again teamed up with Five Axis to produce a concept car — this time based on the CT 200h. Here’s a teaser sketch released today (which I’ve made to fit wallpaper size):

I’m a huge fan of the work that Five Axis & Lexus have done together — the Project IS-F & Project GS are two of my favorite Lexus show cars of all time. Can not wait to see what Troy Sumitomo and the Five Axis gang have in store for the CT 200h.

Update: Lexus put out a press release about the Chicago Auto Show, and it included this blurb about the Project CT:

The Chicago Auto Show will mark the debut of a highly-modified Five Axis Project CT that proves that hybrids can be aggressive. This CT 200h is complemented by a Five Axis custom widebody conversion, JDSU “Dark Passage” paint, and custom black accents. It sits low on a TEIN Flex coilover suspension system and custom 19-inch FIVE:AD forged wheels. The Five Axis Project CT also features a custom Ultrasuede® EcoDesign™ interior, custom touch screen interface center console and a Stoptech High Performance Big Brake Kit on the front.

Awesome.

If Five Axis can bring that kit into production, I might have to take a look at the CT.

There's no need for a V8 in a chassis that small. If Lexus focus on the power to weight ratio, they should make this car lighter and stick in a 2.0L, 4cyl, 3ZR-FAE motor, tuned to 200-220 hp, and you'll have a HB than could outperform the V6.
I updated the post with information from a Lexus press release about the Project CT:

@krew: "custom touch screen interface center console"? Like a regular Lexus touchscreen GPS or a laptop touchpad? hmm...

Well, there's got to be something special about it to be mentioned -- curious about it as well. :-)

If Five Axis plans on making this car any kind of fast their best bet is to remove the entire prius power train (plus hybrid bullshit) and swap in a more potent motor. Cost efficiency with Toyota engine swaps will always reside with the 3S-GTE for FWD vehicles.

Scratch that, the spec sheet I saw had a typo - the gvwr was listed as the curb weight - it weighs around 3200 pounds. Which is much better. I drove one today and it has more zip than I was expecting for a 1.8 L. It Yankees really nicely too, really sure footed. @Jesus built my Lexus:
