Lexus USA & Canada Temporarily Halt GX 460 Sales

Lexus GX 460

Both Lexus USA & Lexus Canada have issued a sales stoppage on the new GX 460 until the stability problem discovered by Consumer Reports is resolved—here is the full press statement from Mark Templin, Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager:

“For more than 20 years, Lexus has made customer safety and satisfaction our highest priorities.  We are taking the situation with the GX 460 very seriously and are determined to identify and correct the issue Consumer Reports identified. At this time we have asked our dealers to temporarily suspend sales of the 2010 GX 460.

Lexus’ extensive vehicle testing provides a good indication of how our vehicles perform and we are confident that the GX meets our high safety standards.  Our engineering teams are vigorously testing the GX using Consumer Reports’ specific parameters to identify how we can make the GX’s performance even better.

For any customer who has purchased a 2010 GX 460 and is concerned about driving their vehicle, we will provide a loaner car until a remedy is available.

As always, Lexus is committed to providing our customers with outstanding products and service.

Customers who have any questions or concerns should contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-25 LEXUS or 1-800-255-3987.”

  1. Thanks Toyota, you are taking care your customers. They just want you to improve more your technology so American cars will be left behind.

  2. I can’t help but feel that Toyota is turning the other cheek a bit too willingly, being a bit too “Ghandi” about smear jobs like this. When they never stand up for themselves people are likely to believe that every cheap stab like this is true, and those who recognize it as a big pile of ox droppings might loose a bit of respect for,and confidence in Toyota management.

  3. donno why toyota makes that

    really donno

  4. This doesn’t look good for Toyota/Lexus. I’m still a loyal owner, but this news along with the recent recalls is going to hurt the brand. People are going to scrutinize Toyota more closely. I hope they rebound.

I agree with others; why they even have a GX when the RX and LX are the more popular. They should build a luxury hybrid van instead. I really like the new Toyota Sienna. They should make a luxury version of this and give it hybrid technology while they’re at it. The larger van can house a larger battery to hold more regenerative energy. This sound more practical, imo.
