2010 Lexus GX 460 at the LA Auto Show
It’s only a quick look, but Kicking Tires has some footage of the Lexus GX 460 on display at the LA Auto Show:
With the presenter in the video, it’s easier to get a better idea of the vehicle’s size—don’t know that I would compare it to Subaru Outback, though.

Road & Track also has some LA Auto Show photos of the GX 460—this one with a Knights Armor exterior and Sepia interior:
Although it’s one of the easiest changes to make on a vehicle, I’m not crazy about the wheel design on the GX—looks about two spokes short.

subaru outback? are they crazy? at least this guy has eyes and he is smarter than them…it looks more like an acura mdx than anything…
I think they were referring to the headlights
2009 Subaru outback also has that rounded part in the headlights (sorry for the huge picture)
@Josh: Funny. I think the GX headlights look a lot like the new Outback too.
I really hate how a lot of new Lexus vehicles look like their wheels are out of place as if the vehicles are on their tippy-toes, and I don’t like how the front bumpers are “out there” in the picture above. From some angles the vehicle looks pretty nice actually, and from some perspectives, the vehicle doesn’t seem to have any of the problems that I mentioned above, meaning that the designers suck… they focus on one thing and fail to make it fit into the whole. Interesting how the reflectors in the taillights of the GX picture above actually enhance its look.
OH, and Krew, the LSh is now on Lexus.com
- just a whole bunch of photoshops (one of them evidently has the old bumper but with the new grille and foglights)
- looks pretty nice in some, but each photoshop is annoyingly different from the other
@WorldofLuxury: I totally agree, and I actually sent an email to Lexus US about the LSh pictures. They really should have taken some new ones instead. Cant believe how they always seem to choose the cheaper solution.
I like it that way. Spokes are just right or it’s actually one spoke too many.
Make the grille normal and fix the rear door and Ill get it.
@Eddie: I like the idea of the chrome around the grille, and I like the idea of sturdy slits across the grille. However, the GX grille might have razor-like slits, but it looks like I can easily rip them off with my bare hands.
I also like how they integrated the headlights into the grille to create a prominent front that gives the entire vehicle a nice, wide stance that separates the GX from the Prado.
The doors look a lot cleaner than the previous generation’s, but it looks like I can rip the rear doors right off its hinges. The bulges are okay, but they make the rear doors look like they’re wearing a pretty little skirt. And I don’t like the picture below the video creates an illusion that the vehicle is facing left while the wheels are pointing more to the write even though it’s apparent that they’re pointing forwards.
The wheels can maintain their size but remove one spoke, and make the spoke length longer (appearance-wise at the very least). What’s the difference between five nuts and six nuts - no pun intended?
The GX clearly has the body on frame look that’s absent in monocoque SUV’s like the X5, ML etc but even in pictures the GX460 looks balanced without the skyscraper height of the GX470. Except for the rear it also looks better than the LX. Too bad Krew doesn’t like the wheels cause they look great to me. Lexus seems to be adopting some organic detailing on the wheel spokes which looks eye-catching & anything more than 5-spokes is always better with 6-spokers being relatively easy to clean.
@WorldofLuxury: With 6 nuts you’ll need to use the 3rd row & the drive will be more annoying… or with 6 nuts there’s less chance of your wheel getting ripped off it’s nuts (pun intended) while off-roading.
The photochopped images of the LSh look sick & after checking out the interior color options I felt sick too (to be commented on when Krew posts the article). Also they haven’t given the LSh trunk volume in the specs while it’s given for the 460. This seems too be the start of a bunch of errors on lexus.com, cause the 2010 ES length is given as 191.1 in while it’s actually 191.7 in according to the owner’s manual. The Chinese ES brochure shows an increase in lenght too. Lexus needs to pay attention to the details, so to speak.
Oh yeah and the ES height is given as 56.3 in while the owner’s manual says 57.1 in which is the same as before. Now which figure seems realistic…
I was just reading the thread on the LS600hL photos article & can’t believe I missed out on the Battle Royal with that ‘Outsider’ last month (was busy the past couple of weeks). Too bad Krew closed that thread, but at least it got rid of that pest who I’m sure is a pre-pubescent playing with his 1:34 scale Veyron on a park bench while his parents think he’s at school. Imagine picking on Krew whom we all respect. Websites like leftlanenews are mostly full of guys like this who can’t get a life. Lexus officials who follow this site won’t be impressed at all.
You should have read some of the comments I deleted.
Some of those photochops are downright…unfortunate.
@oystein:
@krew:
I remember once when Lexus reversed the “key” for the traction control demo!
I e-mailed them; they thanked me; I think it was fixed, but I remember checking back later that the car that was supposed to have traction control on kept slipping away and falling behind…
My Mom drives a 2006 GX 470 LEXUS, and it is perfect in and out. The only thing that would make it the best SUV ever, is if the gas milegage was better. I love, love her car, but I can not afford one. I just went and looked at the 2010 GX 460 LEXUS, at JM LEXUS, and I wanted to cry. It hurt my eyes to see what they have done to it. It really does look cheap, and it looks like it’s on steroids. The inside is too weird, and it makes it feel like the GX is too advanced. Word of advice, take care of your current lexus, they really do last for like ever. Plus, your current model is a lot more richer, nicer, and better built then any new lexus out there.
I actually did receive the deleted comments in my inbox, but anyway good riddance to bad…
