More on the Lexus LFA Engine

By way of 4WheelsNews, Japan magazine Best Car is reporting that the Lexus LF-A’s engine has been confirmed as a 4.8L V10 engine producing 550 hp, and will be designated as the 1LR-GEU.
Also, we’re getting some indication of how the rumored 500 supercars will be divided up across world markets. Asssuming the numbers are legit, Japan allotment is 120 units and Great Britain will receive 20, leaving 380 cars to be distributed to the remaining markets, including the rest of Europe, Australia, Canada, and of course, the USA.

4.8? thats pretty disappointing i was looking forward to 5.0 plus. hopefully it’s a mistake. sorry krew, last comment, honest.
AWESOME.
Enough with the technical specs. I WANT TO BE SHOWN, NOT TOLD, BUT SHOWN HOW IT LOOKS LIKE! IT BETTER BE ONE-OF-A-KIND, BEAUTIFUL, SLEEK AND SEXY, AND JUST PLAIN COOL!!!
It’s not the displacement that most will be looking at, it’s the total output, IMO.
Total displacement isn’t important, its the specific output of the engine that matters. In this case its around 115 bhp / liter which should put it in Ferrari territory right up against the F430 Scuderia.
Also looks like most units of the LFA are goihg to be LHD.
wow
i see that engine in the NG_GS-F , NG_SC-F
and may be their ‘ll be a much higher displacement from as the rumor before that their is 5.6L from it
so if that true the 5.6L ‘ll out around 640hp and can be put in the NG_LS-F
nice engine….can´t wait until October when the Tokyo Motor Show will start.
If it produces the rumored 550hp, I don’t see a 4.8L V10 being an issue.
Having a V10 in the stable certainly opens up a lot of other opportunities.
yup krew
i think they ‘ll not lose the money they spend in Develop that beast
they ‘ll sell it to lotus as we heard before
and they also make a larger displacement
so i think they ‘ll got benefit from it not only in single model
that’s not toyota strategy
by the way out of the item
i hope lexus use the 3.5L with direct injection as the one found in c.athlete with more torque rate in less rpm it give 325 hp due to its direct injection
It’s important for us to remember that displacement is an extremely bad metric of engine performance.
The IS250’s 2.5 liter engine makes more power than any car sold in America in 1973, including the giant V8s of the era.
I bet this engine will be killer. 4.8 liters is huge, mind you. 4.8 liters and a 9000 rpm redline means this engine will have an unbelievable powerband, it’ll be tractable and powerful.
I bet that we’ll see some exotic valve timing on this engine.
