Latest on the Lexus LFA
Edmunds’ Inside Line has some new information on the upcoming Lexus LFA, including this new rendering (click for a larger version):
(The front-end continues to be one of the remaining question marks about the LFA, this rendering has a lot of Ferrari in it.)
Also reported is that the LFA engine will be controlled by six-speed automatic sequential gearbox, and will be equipped with 6-piston calipers with carbon ceramic brake rotors, titanium mufflers (!!!) and run-flat Bridgestone tires.

im liking this look the most, i hope this is the real deal.
Looks interesting, but indeed quite a bit of F430 in there, I think it will look more distinctive in the real thing, and hopefully that hood slit will look integrated next to the emblem.
I wonder also if this is related to the earlier IL item:
“Our scoop squad has also learned that the actual production model looks very different from the prototypes seen at the Nürburgring, “especially around the headlights and grille.” So we can expect a surprise when the car finally surfaces later in 2009. When queried as to whether the LF-A looks better now than the current prototype, our source could only scratch and tilt his head, and suck air through his teeth.”
i was wondering about that article. now, the day i saw the concept around nurburgring, i though that i wouldnt care if it looked like a cat that got ran over by a tractor. but now i really think the headlights need to be the focus of the car, and should be ridiculously beautiful. there are 3 things that, if all happen, will make me a Lexus hater…
1.) the new IS is ugly.
2.) the new GS has only one headlight.
3.) the LFA is ugly…
if they all happen, ill be forced to like…gulp…mercedes (shudders)

I really really hope that it’s either that this picture is either very very basic but moreover, that Lexus is purposely teasing us with all these ideas to bolster the real vehicle that’ll give us a big “WOW!”
Let me say this - Take a good look at the following:-
1. Mercedes CLS
2. ,, B-class
3. ,, R-class
4. ,, GLK
5. ,, CLC
Still wanna go to Mercedes-Benz ?!
Looks like a tuner version of the LFA with an add on body kit. Unlikely the front will look like in the rendering, not very Lexus like . . .
CLS… overstated but deserves praise for having a swooping roof (the mass population isn’t very smart)
B… overpriced, cheap, but a good product business-wise
R… another stupid ad campaign propaganda (I actually prefer sliding doors)
GLK… pretty good lookin’ overall although very impractical
CLC… another product that was just a less successful outcome than the BMW Isetta
Lexus has pretty good quality and ergonomics and lots of overall potential.
MB has ambition with poor “final stage engineering”.
BMW has great designs and engineering, but sadly, their departments haven’t been able to cooperate.
Audi has stride.
Porsche knows what it’s doing.
Ferrari and Lamborghini are pretty safe for the next few years.
Hyundai is… has potential. I want Lexus to make me proud within two years!
man….i dont know what to do. if Lexus does those forbidden three things i mentioned…Benz is a sad choice. BMW is out of the question. what will i do?porsche?land rover?...sigh
i dont think that the LFA will have 8 speed STANDARD. this is gonna be a killer sports car, so its gonna have at least 2 trims, the LFA, roadster, and hopefully some F form. they’ll probably put 8 speed on every F model from now on. smart choice seeing it can kill an m3 and c63amg that has nearly 40hp more than the ISF.
yup. just like what they did with the LS. remember those ugly concepts? an LS430 with a longer body? then the LS460 came out and i had a hard time closing my jaw.

For me the Mercedes CL-class is absolutely emperor class. Easily the best looking Mercedes today & one of the most beautiful production cars. The CLS has regularly been compared with the GS & while the CLS has earned the nickname “banana car” the GS has a purity of design that won’t look dated for a long time.
Aren’t you being a bit too pessimistic, LEXUSaddict? HA, HA. I’m sure the Lexus company is fully aware of what their loyal fans & customers want.
well, im more of an optimist but still they let some people down with the new RX even though i love it and think its more beautiful.
The new RX is wonderful if you see it in person and realize how cute it is! lol
I think Lexus should have changed the front just a bit for the hybrid with the LEDs - more LF-Xh type headlights… don’t think it’ll cost them that much in terms of production costs.
ya, i know i love the new RX especially in person its surprisingly a head turner!
* Audi is coming on strong, I just don’t know if they have enough models to make a big jump in sales.
* Mercedes is making a big quality push right now, and their big car game (CLS, E-Class, S-Class) is tough to beat.
* BMW—well, I feel the same way about BMW that BMW fans feel about Lexus. Boring and overdone. Fun to drive is about the only checkmark on the list.
No question, the next couple years are going to be huge for Lexus—this is a very strong group of competitors. The LFA is going to be a massive boost, regardless of the front-end design

Just picked up a new RX today—it’s fantastic. This next generation of Lexus interiors is unique and very comfortable. My only complaint about the RX? There’s just so many of them!
By “picked up”, I mean picked up for review.
As I mentioned in my Lexus GS450h review, it was the CLS that had me looking at the GS in a new light. Love that Mercedes.
yeah, haha, here in california, where the rich run abroad, theres so many RX’s around where i live. but every 2010 RX driver is a male…this seems critical for me. Lexus definitely needs to attract younger and more male customers. i saw a shirt at a local Lexus dealer that said ” a diamond and a Lexus are a girl’s best friends”...it got removed a few weeks later. now they have polos for men, which is 60 bucks (!!!) but im buying it anyway. im really hyped up, my and my dad are taking our IS to the dealer this weekend for scheduled maintenance, and i love going there!! keyes on van nuys, amazing dealership i love it!! PS krew, did u get that picture i emailed you of the SC550?
Nataraj: The LFA is bound to have an SMG transmission, like the ones found in Formula 1 cars.
I just cant wait till OCT., Tokyo Auto Show to see the Real Deal Super car!!!, and of course, the Toyobaru AE86!. I dont really approve this rendering but, then again, its a rendering.
Looking forward to the RX night photos. I still can’t stomach some details of the new RX :
- The front grille & fog light design
- The A-pillar quarter glass
- The dash & door panel designs
- The AC controls
The RX has grown on me a bit though, some interior details like the door switches & seating comfort are spot on. Still the LX looks better.
I’m an avid Audi hater. When there are better German brands like Mercedes, BMW & Porsche to choose from who gives a ( bleep ) bout Audi.
Will you consider a Mitsubishi or a Suzuki when you can buy a Toyota , Honda or Nissan ? Same difference.
The Audi company knows they don’t have the prestige & recognition levels of even our Lexus, so they desperately launch models like the ugly R8 & try to take on Le Mans with a diesel just to grab headlines.
Loved it when Peugeot beat them at Le Mans this Sunday ! HA, HA.
What about Audi? The current design for their vehicles are turning out to be pretty nice. If i really had to choose id choose the A4.
Let us wait and see.

Audi’s problem is they have Lexus’ heavy hiking boots stuck up their rear… & BMW’s track shoes up their nose.
I TOTALLY DISAGREE ! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but remember that this is a forum for ’ LEXUS ’ enthusiasts not ’ Audi ‘. So please refrain from praising other brands at the expense of Lexus.
Audi’s showroom courtesy is very poor. When Lexus treats you like a guest at the house, they treat you like a street bum. They didn’t bother to even offer me a glass of water. I’ve decided never to walk into an Audi showroom again & that includes auto show stands plus I’m now going to recommend all my friends & relatives to never consider any Audi product.
Lexus interiors are infinitely better than Audi for design, material quality & ergonomics. Just check out the cheap plastics on the roof & door panels. Also the center stack controls are a mess, switches feel cheap too.
Lexus has greater prestige anyday & they sell more cars in N.America too.

Stronger brand huh? Oh ok so thats why they named their car after the german/latin word meaning “listen”? Maybe they should listen, listen to how their customers wouldnt mind too much if just one audi didnt look like all the rest.oh ya and they always praise the power of their cars…the a6 only has a bleepin 2.7 litre engine that is actually weaker than an is250? Ya…real strong brand. Only 136 problems per 100 cars in 2007 while lexus had 94. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link, in this case all four audi circles are weak.

I used to hate Clarkson too, the guy looks like he’s never seen a comb in his life & he’s obssessed with human bodily functions that are embarassing to you or me.
But a few months back, I read an article by him bout large luxury cars in the UK where he mentioned Maybach, A8, XJ, 7-series & our beloved LS600hL. His pick ? Surprisingly LS ! Cause the LS was the only car exempt from the London Congestion Charge cause its a hybrid. Guess he just wanted to stick it the Mayor of London, just like he does to everyone else. He’s still a bonafide imbecile though. Thanks Jeremy !
