2010 Lexus LS Facelift?

Vince Burlapp, the same blogger that leaked an image of the possible 2010 ES facelift, now brings us some fuzzy photos of what could very well be the 2010 Lexus LS refresh:

As far as I can see, the changes are mainly in the rear lights. The new reverse “L” built into the inner side definitely ratchets up the class, and it does mirror the changes made to the 2009 IS last year.

The other leaked shot was of the front fascia:

Keep in mind, these leaks are of the LS 600hL, which has a different set of lights than the non-hybrid LS. Let’s compare apples to apples:

I don’t see much change at all.

Update: These images are believed to be fake.

  1. Fog lights also look different. Actually the entire front bumper looks altered.

  2. The front bumper is “bumped” out compared to the current.  It is not flat/flush along the front.  There also appears to be a yellow flashing light along the side of the headlights that is vertical.

  3. I like the LED treatment to the rear light cluster, very nice.

  4. Awww…I actually liked those L-shaped LEDs of the taillights, and now, they’re no longer as upscale looking. Now…too tall and thick looking.

  5. That’s interesting… I don’t see the LED treatment to the L-insignia in the rear.

I must admit, the rear of the LS looks too busy and weird. The 3D effect on the chrome bar looks a bit cheap, and the insignia looks out of place - which contradicts the whole design of the thin strip of brake lights on the top of the rear windshield.

I guess they’re trying to balance the tall rear with the larger headlights.

  6. I think the new rear lights do something very important, they get rid of the uncomfortable similarity to the Camry. That needed to happen, and I’m glad it did.

  7. oh jeez, please don’t do that ugly ES front grille thing from the hood to the bottom, Lexus, please dont make the grille pop out! and what’s up with the Kia-style huge circle headlight? and that weird taillights treatment makes it look sad…please let this be fake :o

  8. This image first appeared in a Japanese automotive magazine two months ago, it is a photoshop of the following image:

  9. Hmm… I wonder if these pictures are real. The last generation LS received a much more dramatic facelift.

  10. nice move with this inverted L shape.

    will be a classic ~

  11. oh thank god LOL the photoshop makes it look like a cheap chinese copy of itself.

  12. Thanks Dan, I’ve update the post to reflect that.

  13. They better be fake, but we can’t say that they’re not “legit” just ‘cause they’ve been photoshopped. Lexus photoshops many of their original photos for minor facelifts all the times.

Some aren’t so good and some originals never were, so that’s probably why many of the latest pictures on lexus.com are computer graphics.

  14. True enough—but I think we’re all hoping these are fake, anyway. smile

  15. The pictures are definitely fake. The facelift is unlikey to be that subtle. Also the car is expeceted by end 2009,so official images are unlikey to be leaked so early.

  16. Besides that, the more I look at these, the more it looks like a Toyota Avalon, and I guarantee that’s not in the cards.

  17. I have a 2006 Lexus, it’s great to see the upcoming 2010 edition.

Perhaps it’s time to replace my car

  18. Any word as to whether the 2010 LS will have Remote Touch and Heads Up Display?

  19. Hi Bruce—so far there’s been no mention of if/when the other Lexus models will be getting the new Remote Touch system or the Heads Up. We should know shortly, some 2010 models are expected in September.

  20. Thanks.  Another question:  I like evertyhing about the LS except the outside mirrors - they’re too small.  The 2010 RX mirrors are great.  Anyone heard of somebody adapting larger mirrors like the ones on the RX to the LS? (I realize they may distort the cosmetics a bit but it sure would be nice to change lanes on the freeway w/o a blind spot).

  21. their about the size of the es mirrors. too big and you get wind noise.
