Lexus USA November 2008 Sales Report
The November sales for Lexus USA have been reported today, and at least the numbers are better than last month’s drop:

As is my tendency, I’m searching for the bright side of things, and the LX 570 shines like a strange, improbable beacon. Two points off of 500% growth while everything else is at last 30% off? That’s practically amazing. Still, I can’t help but notice the ugly 67.3% drop in GS sales under last year, which is particularly worrying considering that the redesign is probably two years away.
(I did just think of a positive, at least the numbers next year won’t look so bad.)

Anyways, it’s not Lexus’ nature to give up. Look at how successful the IS was…and the LX, which was completely unexpected (I was hoping it wouldn’t do well so Lexus can realize how lazy and bad their designs were
).
Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that Lexus should at least make the money well spent on the LF-A. Am I stupid to think that it’ll be well worth the money and brand image to design a more “mass-productive” version of the LF-A for the SC? ...and make it good too?
Unless Lexus is willing to make the LF-A a sports-car-to-remember for the SC nameplate before it goes into its hiatus…?

As for the LF-A turning into the SC, well, I think that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

The problem is that the new LX is virtually identical to my ‘03 in appearance nevertheless, and as usual, it’s too much Toyota…or Toyota is too much Lexus made more conservative, cheaper looking, and a touch of “mass-productiveness.” (Think ES and Camry)
I can’t say I disagree in some aspects, more so with the resemblance of the Camry and the LS. I don’t really see too much crossover with Camry/ES beyond sharing the same platform.
Regardless, I’m hoping that 2011 Camry speculation is true—which looks more like an Accord than a Lexus. It’s time to get away from shared design elements.
(That said, I love both the new Land Cruiser and the LX, and would take either.
)
