2008 Lexus IS-F Pricing Announced

After months of speculation, Lexus has released pricing for the IS-F, and it’s hard to find any fault with the totals.

The base IS-F will carry a $56,000 USD price tag, which undercuts competitors significantly. The following amenities will be standard:

  • Heated, leather-trimmed 10-way power front sport seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control, a pollen filter and smog detector
  • Power moonroof with one-touch open/close and seven open-position settings
  • Power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel
  • Three-position memory function for front seats, steering wheel and mirrors
  • All power windows with automatic up/down operation with jam protection
  • Auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink(R) programmable garage door opener
  • SmartAccess keyless entry and push-button start
  • Lexus Premium Audio System with six-disc in-dash CD changer
  • Automated rain-sensing wipers and heated auto-dimming outside mirrors with integrated puddle lamps

There are only a few available options, and nothing performance-oriented:

  • DVD Navigation System with backup camera: $2,550
  • DVD Navigation System w/ 14-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound Audio System: $3,990
  • Pre-Collision System w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise $2,850
  • Intuitive Park Assist $500
  • Headlamp Washer $100

The fact is, a IS-F with navigation and Mark Levinson audio will retail for under $60,000 — a price that’s hard to argue and one that competitors will be hard to beat. With pricing still to be announced on the BMW M3 and the Mercedes C63, it’s by no means guaranteed, but the Audi RS4 starts at $66,000, $10,000 more than the IS-F.

(As an aside, my speculative calculations in price were only $2,000 off.)
