The Neiman Marcus Lexus IS-F Special Edition

Lexus has started the party early by offering a special edition of the IS-F through the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue. Only fifty will be made, and will sport the following differences over the “regular” IS-F:
- Exclusive black with white accent stitching interior
- Hand-polished gun-metal rims
- F logo embossed into headrests
- Numbered Special Build badge
Retailing for $68,000, the IS-F also includes a half-day of pro-driver training at the Skip Barber Racing School, plus travel and accommodations.
Now, when I first saw the special edition IS-F, I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe Lexus would be nervy enough to release the super sedan with a matte black exterior! Imagine the letdown when I found out my eyes were playing tricks on me — it’s just plain, shiny, Obsidian black.
Sure, the hand-polished rims are nice, and the one-off interior design sounds OK (Why no photos?), but they’re hardly enough to make up for my initial disappointment.
The Special Edition IS-F will be available October 18, 2007 at 12:00 pm EDT, and if you’re interested, be sure to put in your order immediately. Last year’s Neiman Marcus BMW M6 Convertible sold out in 96 seconds.
